Blogging Accelerator for DataScience.LA

By now I’m sure you’ve checked out our blog and have wondered, ‘How can I contribute my ideas and share my projects with the community?’ There are two ways to contribute content to DataScience.LA, either as a regular contributor or through our Blogging Accelerator. Our vision is to help unleash you, members of the community, as effective data science communicators while establishing Los Angeles as one of the leading places for data thinking, data journalism, and data science. (Ready to write a blog post right now? Send us an email at info@datascience.la to get started as a contributor.)

We know, however, that not everyone has had the same writing experiences and may find the process of contributing to a community blog to be full of anxiety (AND excitement!) We’re here to help with the anxiety part, since we’d like to try something new to help generate stellar content regardless of your writing experience. If you are a data science student, practitioner, or expert and you have always wanted to write a blog post but were afraid to “go it alone”, we’re going to be here to provide targeted support while developing your voice to creating high-quality data science writing. The Blogging Accelerator program will start as a small number of individuals interested in working over a 2 month period to develop their ideas into full-fledged blog posts for our site. We will meet weekly to discuss our ideas and progress, and you’ll have the chance to see behind the scenes here at DataScience.LA during the process. Writing support during the program will be customized to what each participant needs to become successful, and can include how to develop an idea on paper and get to a first draft, providing editing expertise, help with sticking to a timeline, or technical support with posting to a blog itself. Regardless, it all starts with a conversation – drop us a note at info@datascience.la and mention you’d like to get started with our Blogging Accelerator!
